Coral Atkinson was born in Ireland and came to New Zealand as a girl, exchanging shamrocks and leprechauns for kowhai and kiwi. She studied English and history at Canterbury University and has been thinking about the past, and words, ever since.
She has written two adult historical novels, The Love Apple (Random House, 2005) and The Paua Tower (Random House, 2006) and is currently working on another. She lives in Governors Bay on Lyttelton Harbour and spends most days sitting at her computer, with a cat on her knee and a dog at her back.
She is married to an ageing wolf with lumpy stuffing.
